Walking into Genki Izakaya, the cozy ambiance and warm hospitality hit me right away. The place buzzes with a great vibe, split between a lively bar and a more intimate dining area. My culinary journey here was nothing short of spectacular, starting with the A5 Wagyu topped with sea urchin and caviar. Each bite of the tender, melt-in-your-mouth meat was a burst of joy. The bluefin tuna paired with foie gras and sea urchin was another standout, perfectly complemented by the eel sauce enriched with truffle oil. Although the Japanese omelet rice was just okay, the addition of truffle did elevate the dish somewhat.
The dessert was a delightful surprise, with the purple sweet potato ice cream stealing the show. It was incredibly sweet, with rich milky flavors that rounded off the meal beautifully. The staff's attentiveness added to the experience, making sure everything was perfect without being intrusive. Even the drinks were memorable, especially the Hokkaido white peach ale which is now a new favorite of mine. While the sushi didn't quite hit the mark for me due to the rice issue, I'm eager to return and explore more of their menu, particularly the ramen and skewers. If you're in the mood for some top-notch Japanese cuisine in a welcoming setting, Genki Izakaya should definitely be on your list.
