Mariah Carey suffers two devastating loses

Virginia celebrity watchers, I was told early this morning by Nicole P. of Roanoke County that Mariah Carey recently experienced the deaths of two family members, her mother Patricia and sister Alison, on the same day. TODAY confirmed this news and quoted the singer as saying the following.

I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” Carey said in the statement. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

No official cause for the women's deaths has been released but E-News gave this quote from Mariah Carey.

"My heart is broken that I've lost my mother this past weekend," Mariah told E! News in an Aug. 26 statement. "Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day."
