    Freezing cucumbers changes them

In Virginia, cucumbers are planted after the last frost, usually between mid-April and mid-May. According to Plant Maps, the final frost date in the state for 2024 is May 31 for the Staunton area.

If you have ever heard that cucumbers should not be placed in the freezer, there is a good reason. All Recipes says you can freeze cucumbers if you desire, but what goes in the freezer will not be what you take out.

Cucumbers are 95% water, so once they are frozen and thawed, they lose their crispy crunch and don't taste the same. Southern Living says that frozen cucumbers are mushy once thawed, and who wants to eat a mushy cucumber?
