Is the Omni hotel really haunted?

A family member who lives in Virginia and travels for her job has never told me a haunted hotel story until now. She recently stayed at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, DC, for a few nights in room 847. She said several times when she returned to her room, her key card would not work.

When she looked up, she found she was in front of room 870 and had no explaiantion for how this happened. When she was leaving the Omni, an employee in the elevator on the sixth floor asked if she encountered any ghosts. He added that the eighth floor is haunted, and some employees will not go there.

    History of the Omni

When the hotel opened in 1930, one of Omni's financial partners, Henry L. Doherty, moved his family and the hotel's executive housekeeper, Juliet Brown, into a luxury apartment on the eighth floor.

Brown is said to have mysteriously died at 4:00 a.m. one morning, and Doherty's wife and daughter died shortly after. Wikipedia, however, reports that the daughter, Helen Doherty did not die in the apartment but 50 years later in Denmark.

The family remained in the apartment until 1973, and after they left, it was closed until 1997 when it was renovated. Since then, guests and employees claim to hear voices, see apparitions, feel cool brfeezes and see furniture moving inside 870, and strange things are also alleged to have happened outside the room.
