Alison Sweeney is a popular actress who began portraying Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives in 2014. I recall my grandmother and other older Virginia women saying how wicked thsi character was. Now, after two years away from the Peacock soap, the soap vet told PEOPLE she is glad to be back.

"I was thrilled to be invited to return," Sweeney told TV Insider. "I love playing Sami, and I am always happy to have the chance to come back. We always have to figure out scheduling, but if possible, I'm so glad to make it happen."

Deadline reports that Sweeney's first scenes as Sami will be in January 2025. Now that Nicole Walker (Ari Zucker) has left Salem with Sami's brother Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan), could EJ Dimera (Dan Feuerriegel ) set his sights on the mother of his son Johnny Dimera (Carson Boatman)?

Some Virginia fans say they hope Brian Datillo will return as Lucas Roberts and will reunite with his former wife. Time will tell, so be on the lookout for Alison Sweeney in the New Year.
