The Record Shop owner has passed away

Virginians continue to mourn the loss of Happy's Flea Market, which was on Williamson Road in NW Roanoke. There is now Happy's Outdoor Flea Market but it's not the same.

Another loss associated with the iconic venue is the death of Wilbert Cecil "Buddy" Dunbar Jr. If you ever visited The Record Shop at Happy's, you met Dunbar, who had a vast selection of albums and tapes. His items were reasonably priced, and he was willing to give good deals.

His obituary indicates he passed away on August 26, at age 86. The memories shared on the page and Facebook are a testament to how beloved he was. After Happy's Flea Market closed in 2016, Wilbert Dunbar reopened his record shop in a different location on Williamson Road.
