Safety warnings have not deterred hit-and-run incidents

Despite safety tips from DMV, as well as VDOT and local authorities, and pleas for drivers to slow down, pedestrians continue to be hit on Virginia roads. According to AAA, hit-and-run incidents are becoming more prevalent.

WAVY News reported at the beginning of August that a man was arrested in Virginia Beach for the hit-and-run of a pedestrian. The accident happened at the intersection of Virginia Beach Boulevard and Witchduck Road. The pedestrian did not receive life-threatening injuries.

WDBJ7 reports that in Roanoke, a woman and two children were recently involved in a hit-and-run near Mountain View Terrace and Byrne Street. The driver ran off the side of the road and fled the scene. Thankfully, the three pedestrians did not suffer serious injuries.
