A rather Odd situation

Sometimes, people who don't know this Eastern part of the US get mixed up with Virginia and neighboring West Virginia. This happened with a recent article in The Mirror about the Whitaker clan.

YouTuber Mark Latia has been chronicling the impoverished family who live in Odd in Raliegh County in the Mountain State, not the Old Dominion. The town went viral when Latia's 2020 YouTube show Soft White Underbelly, featured the Whitakers, who admit to being inbred.

The Mirror refers to the West Virginia family as living in squalor and quotes Latia as saying they squandered $100,000 that was supposed to repair their home. Odd is over 200 miles and three hours away from Virginia.
