Police are proceeding with charges against Naresh Bhat

A month ago, Mamta Kafle Bhat went missing from Mamassas Park, Virginia. Her case was not a typical missing person report and has been baffling because police suspected her husband, Naresh Bhat, 37, of murder but could not prove it.

The 28-year-old immigrant nurse from Napal was last seen on July 31 and now is being presumed dead. WTOP reports that Naresh was arrested last week after increased police activity at the Bhat's home.

    Charges have been filed

Law enforcement has not yet found Mamta's body but believes evidence found in the house will lead them to her remains. Lawyers for Naresh argued that there had been no evidence of assault or murder.

Still, on Thursday, the judge in the case agreed to a motion by Naresh Bhatt's attorney to waive his preliminary hearing, leading to the felony charge of concealing a dead body going directly to a grand jury. Hopefully, answers will come that will give the family of Mamta Kafle Bhat some measure of closure.

As an update, NBC News reports that Manassas and Prince William County police are searching Signal Hill Park, so updates may soon be available.
