    Peggy Castle is from Appalachia

Actress Peggy Castle was born Peggy Blair on December 22, 1927, in Wise, Virginia, to Doyle and Elizabeth Blair. She graduated from Hollywood High School and was named Miss Cheesecake in 1949.

Her career began on the radio soap opera Today's Children. She later worked for Twentieth Century Fox, where she changed her last name to Castle because another actress at the studio had the name Blair.

    Peggy Castle was typecast

Famous Faces of the South Facebook page reports Castle was relegated to B movies and typecast as a side chick, rather than a wife or girlfriend. Some of her many film roles include The Prince Who Was a Thief, Cow Country, Arivederi Rome, Tall Zero, and Back From the Dead.

Television credits include Our Miss Brooks, The Millionaire, Cheyenne, Gunsmoke, and 77 Sunset Strip. Her final role was in the 1966 episode of The Virginian titled Morgan Starr.

On August 11, 1973, Peggy Castle, an alcoholic, was found dead on the couch of her Hollywood apartment by her third husband, William McGarry. Her death was later determined to be caused by cirrhosis.
