    Fentanyl deaths continue

Free Virginia was launched to prevent fentanyl deaths in the state. One of the issues is unsuspecting people taking other drugs that are laced with the opioid. Criminal charges for those who sold the lethal drugs was being explored but Governor Youngkin tabled the issue for now.

The concern is that dealers will be afraid to call 911 and get hep for those who overdose. This issue is being highlighted due to the recent death of Rich Homie Quan.

Atlanta rapper's death might be fentanyl related

TMZ reports the Atlanta rapper died Thursday in his home, but no official cause of death was given.Boosie Badazz posted to X, formerly Twitter that Quan had overdosed, though the exact narcotic involved was not disclosed.

According to KTLA, the word is spreading that Quan's death was due to a drug overdose, and unsubstantiated rumors are running rampant on social media that he took Percocet laced with fentanyl.

In 2017, Quan "whipped out" a bag of Percocets during a radio interview with XXL. He said he paid $8.00 each for the pills that he used when he could not sleep. The rapper's death at 34 is a tragedy no matter what the cause.

The Virginia Department of Health reported in December 2023 that eight out of every 10 fatal overdoses in the state were related to Fentanyl so there is still much work to do.
