Alcohol makes you more attractive to mosquitoes

Mosquito season in Virginia is typically between April and late September or early October, which means there may be six or seven more weeks, depending on when the weather gets colder.

If these insects seem more attractive to you than others, there are some reasons for you to consider. The Week lists five things that draw mosquitoes to specific individuals, and number one on the list is alcohol. Drinking three cans of beer will make you more attractive to the pests.

Exercise, body weight, pregnancy, and being male

According to The New York Times, the smells your body emits while exercising are attractive to mosquitoes. Men and more prominent individuals are likelier to be bitten because they emit more significant amounts of carbon dioxide and heat.

The National Library of Medicine reveals that pregnant women are twice as likely to have mosquito bites due to increased carbon dioxide and warm bellies. You may have a few answers if you have wondered what causes mosquitoes to target you.

That explanation does not apply to me and my ex. He was the drinker & we were normal size, yet the mosquitoes would chew me up & never touch him! I didn't wear perfume outdoors but maybe it was my shampoo. who really knows.
