Lee Boyd Malvo was denied parole

Lee Boyd Malvo is the DC sniper who killed ten people in October 2002 and was sentenced to Virginia’s supermax facility, Red Onion State Prison. In September 2022, he was denied parole, but WTOP reports that he has now been transferred to Keen Mountain Correctional Center.

Virginia maximum security prisons are for those who are long-term and disruptive, Assaultive, Severe Behavior Problems, Predatory-type behavior, and Escape Risk. The next level is 5, which is for prisoners who have had no disruptive behavior for at least the past 24 months before consideration for a transfer to any less secure facility.

Malvo is now in a level 4 security prison for Long Term, Single, multiple, & Life + sentences. No disruptive behavior for at least the past 24 months before consideration for a transfer to any less secure facility. This suggests that Lee Boyd Malvo has been a model prisoner despite his crimes.
