    Police seek the identity of an older woman found in the James River

    Deceased victim's identity is not known

    The Roanoke Times reports that the body of a woman between 70 and 80 years old was recovered from the James River late Tuesday morning in Richmond. Local authorities responded to reports of a possible body in the river around 11:50 a.m. Great Shiplock Park on Dock Street.

    WRIC says Richmond Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team, assisted with recovering the body and the unidentified female was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Police do not suspect foul play. Detectives are investigating and attempting to find out the identity of the deceased. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
