Did Laura abandon Lulu?

Three years ago, in mid-August, General Hospital fans were concerned with the absence of Genie Francis, who portrays Laura Collins. The actress revealed that she was on summer vacation, which on-screen went into the fall.

Each year after that, something took Laura off-screen while her portrayer spent time with her family. This year, the soap vet did not announce to fans that she was going on vacation, but Laura and Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) left Port Charles about two weeks ago to search for Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) in Africa.

The duo has not been seen since, and some Virginia fans have said they can't believe Laura would leave her daughter Lulu Falconeri ( Alexa Havens), who is near death. The mayor's absence could be because Genie Francis is on her annual vacation and not because Laura is a bad mother.
