According to WBTM, former George Washington High School football star Bryan “Keeta” Covington was found deceased on Sunday at the Astoria Hotel in Danville. The local Police Department says there was no sign of trauma to the body.

Covington was an All-State running back for the GW State Championship team in 1982. He went on to play college football at Maryland as a defensive back and kickoff return specialist and was named to the All-ACC team in 1985 and 1986. He led the ACC in interceptions with six in 1985 and kickoff return yards per return with 23.2.

GW Football reveals Bryan "Keeta" Covington was the leading rusher on the 1982 state champions. He was the best back in the school's history and went on to play at Maryland with his brother Al.

Danville police have not released any information related to Covington's death. It was family members who identified him to WBTM.
