The death of Congolese American Dkembe Mutombo, a former NBA player, has led to conversations online about Georgetown because Mutombo attended Georgetown University.

Located at 3900 Reservoir Rd. in Washington, D.C., Georgetown is separated from Roslyn Virginia by the Key Bridge, but there is a "Georgetown, Virginia, an unincorporated town in North Cumberland County.

Another reason for the confusion is that on the NBC sitcom A Different World, Julian Day (Dominic Hoffman) was called "Georgetown" by Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) because he attended the prestigious D.C. university.

ADW occurred at the fictional Hillman College, 45 minutes from Richmond, Virginia. Julian took classes at Hillman during season five while attending Georgetown University.
