Former Republican Virginia Rep. Denver Riggleman has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president and targeted former President Donald Trump in his announcement.

"I was heartbroken and horrified to see how close we came to losing our democracy on January 6, because of one man — Donald Trump," Riggleman wrote in a statement released by the Harris campaign. "I’ve seen with my own eyes how Trump’s thirst for power, revenge, and retribution is his real motivation, and that’s why I cannot stand by while he tries to destroy our country."

Riggleman's support for the presumed Democratic nominee was announced as part of the Harris campaign's Republicans for Harris rollout , which it described as a "campaign within a campaign."

"I’m on here. Yep," Riggleman wrote in response to his name being included on the list. "I’ve seen the data from J6. Trump & his minions are dangerous. The same folks who pushed J6 push Project 2025. A 2nd Trump term would endanger US citizens — and create global chaos. Sanity should be the baseline. Criminals should be discounted."

Riggleman represented Virginia's 5th Congressional District, a largely rural district in the center of the state, from 2019 to 2021. He was endorsed by Trump twice but unseated in 2021 by Rep. Bob Good (R-VA), who recently lost a primary for his own bid for reelection after a recount to state Sen. John McGuire.

Other Republicans for Harris members include former Trump White House officials Stephanie Grisham , former Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, and former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman.
