All my children are grown up now and out of college. I know it's a hard time for most parents because they know their child has grown up and probably will never come back to live in the home again but you still worry about them. You probably won't sleep well, when they first go to college and you call them a lot. You worry if they're eating, you worry if they are getting enough sleep ,you'll worry if they made some friends, but life does go on believe me and before you know, they will be graduating from college. You will be sad again, because you know, they have totally grown up and will make their way into the world, but in the meantime, it's nice to know some things that they should have when they go into the dorm for foods. Some colleges have excellent cafeterias that will allow your child to eat healthy as we all know they're busy studying our party in and they come home and they're starving and the cafeteria closed.

As we all know, Ramen is one of the known college foods it's cheap. It's easy to make only requiring a pot. However, it is known that the kids will break the Ramen noodles and eat them just out of the package with the seasoning package on top. That way it's more of a snack and they don't have to cook it. You're probably saying oh no, but it won't hurt them. If your child does have a cafeteria, some of them will take some of the fresh vegetables from the salad bar and also cook them in their Ramen soup to add a little more healthier for them.

Microwave popcorn is always an easy way to fill them up while they are doing their studying. If they don't have a microwave in their room they're usually is a microwave somewhere nearby. You could also get an air popper which usually runs around $20 for a healthier microwave popcorn. They can top it off with some of the seasonings Example cheddar cheese and cinnamon sugar, or you can just top it off with Slap your Mama if you like it for a spicier hot taste. It is less expensive than the microwave bags.

I'm sure you're not surprised that pizza is a stable for college students. They can either keep hot pockets in their freezer or they can make their own with some English muffins sauce and cheese and pop it into the microwave for a quick lunch, dinner or midnight snack.

Beef jerky is a high protein snack that might help your child get through the midnight studying.

You can buy instant packages of oatmeal or grits. They come in so many different flavors. They will fill your child's belly up for breakfast or anytime.

Another way to get at least some vegetables into your child is microwavable soups.

Cans of tuna or chicken ( pop lid) are always good to have on hand for college students. They can eat it out of the can directly or add whatever they like without having to use another bowl plus fish can help sharpen the mind. If they have seaweed snacks on hand, they can put the tuna or the chicken on the seaweed with a little bit of seasoning to make a quick meal.

Of course, you want to take many containers of bottled water. If they like herbal tea, there are ones now that you can buy to put in the bottles which are very tasty. I feel there are also other bottles of drops that you can buy at the food store this might help to keep them away from soda. Sometimes your child might be attending a school with different temperatures. You might consider Gatorade to keep them hydrated. If they are going to a colder climate instant hot chocolate is always a plus.

Of course, snacks are a big thing with college students. You can get veggie chips, snap pea crisp, Sunflower seeds, granola bars, rice, crunchy chickpeas, plantain chips, cakes, pretzels, dried fruit, trail mix, crunchy types of cereal or any type of snacks that you're child would like. Crackers are also a good thing to have.

In today's world, many young adults, drink, coffee. Having a coffee machine might save a lot of money rather than going to the coffee stores. Some people will buy espresso beans that are covered in chocolate to give them an extra boost.

Another easy meal for them is the instant mac & cheese that they can put into the microwave.

If your child has a sweet tooth, you might want to try the gummy's that have fruit in them to try to keep them a little healthy. Also chocolate is an antioxidant can boost endurance if your child is into sports.

I hope some are all of these ideas help you when you are sending your child off to another state or just to a local college to live on their own for the first time in their life.

Believe me, it'll be a hard time for you and it doesn't matter if your first child or your last child. It'll be tears of happiness that they made it and tears of sadness, cause you know you won't see them every day.
