Connor Norby hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Norfolk Tides to a 5-4 victory over Worcester on Wednesday night at Polar Park.

Norby’s ninth homer helped the Tides to a road win after Worcester rallied from a two-run deficit to tie it 4-4 on home runs by Nick Sogard and Bobby Dalbec in the third and sixth innings, respectively.

Norby had three hits — raising his average to .301 —and scored three runs on the night, coming home on Heston Kjerstad’s two-run double in the first and Nick Maton’s RBI single in the third. Kjerstad went 2 for 4 to raise his batting average to .333 and added to his International League-leading total in RBIs (43).

Luis Gonzalez (2-0) pitched two scoreless innings of relieft to earn the win.

The teams continue their series in Worcester with a 12:15 p.m. game Thursday. Norfolk RHP Garrett Stallings (0-1, 6.26), who starred at Grassfield High in Chesapeake and Worcester RHP RIchard Fitts (3-1, 4.71) are the scheduled starters.
