VISALIA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A 47-year-old man is dead after a crash involving a truck towing agriculture equipment in Visalia on Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officials say they received a call about a two-vehicle crash on Road 128 north of Avenue 24 in Tulare County around 10 p.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers say that through investigation, they determined that the 47-year-old man from Rosamond, was driving a Toyota Sienna northbound on Road 128 north of Avenue 24 at an unknown speed.

At the same time, a 52-year-old from Delano was driving a GMC 2500 pickup, towing agricultural equipment, southbound on Road 128.

Officers say for unknown reasons, that’s when the driver of the Toyota allowed the vehicle to drift to the left toward the GMC.

The driver of the GMC then swerved to the right to attempt to avoid a crash. However, despite his efforts, the Toyota crashed into the agricultural equipment that was being towed by the GMC.

The driver of the Toyota died as a result of the crash.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this crash.

The California Highway Patrol wants to remind people to remove all distractions when driving, drive at a safe speed, always wear a seatbelt, and never drive while impaired.
