VISALIA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The mom of a 4-month-old has been arrested after allegedly leaving the baby in the car unattended for hours, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies say they were called to a home on the 29900 block of Avenue 168 in Visalia for a 4-month-old left in a vehicle around 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

When they arrived, sheriff’s officials say they learned the infant was left unattended by the mother for about two hours while the vehicle was turned off and all doors and windows were closed.

Deputies say the infant was treated by medical personnel on the scene and taken to a local hospital. She has since been released.

The mother, identified by the sheriff’s office as 30-year-old Ashley Hamlin, was taken into custody under suspicion of child endangerment and booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Adult Pre-Trial Facility.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office at 559-733-6218.
