    Vote for the Tulare County high school athlete of the week, Sept. 30-Oct. 4

    Visalia Times-Delta/Tulare Advance-Register readers can now vote for their favorite high school athletes at the newspaper's website, visaliatimesdelta.com .

    The poll closes on Friday. There are no restrictions so vote now and vote often. Please do not email your votes.

    Here are the choices for the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 4:

    • Israel Briggs, football, Mt. Whitney: Briggs hauled in two touchdowns as the Pioneers edged Reedley 14-7.
    • Rowen Collins, football, Golden West: Collins had an interception to seal the Trailblazers' 24-21 win over Tehachapi in overtime.
    • Malachi Ficher, football, Tulare Western: Ficher caught a touchdown pass, threw for another and was named the school's homecoming king at halftime in the Mustangs' 23-15 win over Wasco.
    • Jordan Mata, volleyball, El Diamante: Mata had three aces, four digs and 14 assists to help the Miners beat Mt. Whitney 3-1.
    • Andee May, volleyball, Redwood: May fired 13 kills with an ace, five blocks and three digs as the Rangers defeated Monache 25-15, 25-16, 25-23 in an East Yosemite League match.
    • Karolyne Moran, volleyball, Golden West: Moran delivered nine kills, three aces, 16 digs and four assists to help the Trailblazers sweep Mt. Whitney 25-11, 25-16, 26-24 in an EYL contest.
    • Ashlee Orozco, volleyball, Dinuba: Orozco smacked 12 kills and had 17 digs to lead the Emperors to a 25-19, 25-11, 19-25, 25-19 win over Tulare Western.
    • Demaje Riley, football, Tulare Union: Riley, starting at quarterback, passed for 97 yards and exploded for 181 yards rushing and two touchdowns to anchor the Tribe's 28-14 win at Bakersfield Christian.
    • Ramon Rodriguez, football, Strathmore: Rodriguez scored two touchdowns as the Spartans routed Farmersville 49-0.
    • David Ross, boys water polo, Redwood: In a 15-11 win over Edison, Ross registered six goals, two assists and two steals.

    Anyone can nominate an athlete of the week for next week's poll.

    Nominations are based on information available to the Times-Delta.

    All high school varsity players from Tulare County can be on the ballot. Nominations must be received for consideration by Monday morning following that week's games.
