    Authorities ID 19-year-old killed in Vista shooting

    VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities have identified the victim that died after a shooting in Vista over the weekend , when four men arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds.

    According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, four men — ages 19, 17, 18, and 16 — arrived at Palomar Hospital shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday with gunshot wounds.

    One of the victims, identified Tuesday as 19-year-old Antonio Junior Calderon Mendiola, died at the hospital due to his injuries. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled his death a homicide due to a gunshot wound.

    The sheriff’s department reports the Sheriff’s Communications Center received a 911 call from a cell phone near Civic Center Drive in Vista around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, just before five men arrived at Palomar Hospital, four of them suffering from gunshot wounds.

    As of Tuesday afternoon, the 17-year-old and 18-year-old victims are still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), according to the sheriff’s department, while the 16-year-old victim is still in the hospital in stable condition.

    Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are working to determine a possible motive. The investigation is ongoing.

    Officials say no suspect has been identified at this time.
