Couple sentenced for roles in fentanyl-related Wounded Knee murder
WOUNDED KNEE, S.D. - A Rapid City, South Dakota man has been sentenced to more than 37 years in prison for murdering a woman in Wounded Knee. Jerel Running Bear, age 34, was convicted of Second-Degree Murder and Discharge of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime of Violence.
Interim Superintendent Overseeing First Day Of Class At Rapid City Area Schools
(Rapid City, SD) — Rapid City Area Schools start today and the associate superintendent will be in charge. Dr. Cory Strasser will serve as interim superintendent following last week’s firing of superintendent Nicole Swigart. According to one high school principal, it’s the assistant superintendent who works more directly with school principals, so they’re already familiar with Strasser. Strasser says communicating with staff and parents throughout the school year is crucial.
Rapid City Council votes against restricting hours of alcohol sales
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Rapid City Council voted not to amend an ordinance and prohibit alcohol sales from 7 AM to 10 AM within city limits at a Monday night meeting. A seven to three vote kept the existing ordinance in place after several public members voiced their opinions.
