A Whirlwind Tour Through the Last Weekend of Pride in New York City, as Captured by Ryan McGinley
The final weekend of June (or, as many members of the LGBTQ+ community have come to know it, the last gasp of Pride Month) is always a hectic, colorful, and busy affair. (That is, unless you go out of your way to avoid the crowds—but, really, where’s the fun in that?) This year, photographer Ryan McGinley was on hand to capture the scene at four different New York City–based events: the Drag March, the Dyke March, Heritage of Pride’s Pride March, and the Queer Liberation March. While each event was carefully organized to express a distinct aspect of queer and trans celebration, the overall effect was one of wide-ranging, sometimes-chaotic joy.
A Palais Royal Fête for the ANDAM Award Winners
Capping off a fashion marathon of men’s shows, haute couture, and high jewelry presentations, the ANDAM Award cocktail ushered in summer on a raft of champagne and rosé. If the jury president, Anthony Vaccarello, his star guest juror Catherine Deneuve, and others slipped out early, the French minister of culture Rachida Dati, gamely lingered on. Having earlier pronounced Paris fashion as entering a new golden era, in France and around the world” Dati chatted easily with ANDAM founder Nathalie Dufour, its president, Guillaume Houzé, and the night’s big winners.

Natasha Zinko is one of just a few designers still imagining a post-societal future. (Even Demna swapped his boggy dunes for the sun-soaked hills of Los Angeles last December.) These dark ruminations have seen the designer travel from monster-torn metropolises to the vast unknown of space, which is where she continued to roam with her resort collection. “I’m Ukrainian, and so, the war changed everything for me,” she said. “I’m in the process of exploring what security and protection might look like in these surreal, unstable times.”

Amid the swirl of the Paris men’s, couture, and jewelry presentations, Tove quietly slipped into the French capital, bringing with it an oasis of calm—which is exactly how a burgeoning base considers the London-based brand founded five years ago by two Topshop alums, Holly Wright and Camille Perry. No matter their vocation, the brand’s fans have one thing in common: getting dressed for “the juggle.”
Millie Bobby Brown Opts for a Romantic—And Affordable—Honeymoon Dress
Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi are honeymooning in style—with Jon Bon Jovi in tow. The Bongiovi clan hit Porto Cervo, Sardinia in their finest summer vacation fashions. Brown and Bongiovi secretly tied the knot in May. While we may not have the details of their wedding looks, we...
Sofia Coppola on Her Enduring Love for Japan and Her Perfect Summer Cocktail—A Roku Gin Grapefruit Spritz
Fans of Sofia Coppola might associate her with one of three places—New York (where the Academy Award-winning director was born), Versailles (at its Palace, she filmed her candy-colored Marie Antoinette), or Japan (her Tokyo-set Lost in Translation captivated audiences with its beautifully told story of displacement). The latter location is at the core of her latest project, a delightfully celebratory campaign video for Roku Gin shot with her longtime muse, Elle Fanning.

Isabel Marant has been the reigning queen of Parisian boho since she launched her brand some 30 years ago. For spring, she’s suggesting a revival complete with tassels, crochet, fringed scarves, and chunky claw pendants. Nothing too literal, though. She’s calling her latest take “modernized Marrakesh.”. “It’s...

A new entry on the couture calendar, Bahareh Ardakani came to Paris by way of Tehran, where she was born, but mainly Sweden, where her family moved before her first birthday. A mathematician and design engineer by training, she switched course to fulfill a dream of becoming a fashion designer, picking up a gemology degree along the way. As a result, Ardakani is the rare couture indie who also designs her own high jewelry, all of which is centered in a picturesque atelier and ready-to-wear boutique in a cobblestone courtyard just off the Place de la Concorde last week. As to that moniker: ArdAzAei is a contraction of her parents’ family names.
The Inspiration for Marta Kostyuk’s Scene-Stealing Wimbledon Dress? Her Wedding Dress
When Marta Kostyuk walked out onto Wimbledon grass for her opening-round match against Rebecca Šramková this morning, she did so wearing the Wilson tennis dress that seems destined to set the hearts of the tournament’s style-watchers aflutter. What’s immediately apparent is that Kostyuk’s sleeveless, deep-V-neck, largely open-backed dress—in, of course, Wimbledon white—is a picture of grace and elegance. Maybe less obvious? It’s also one of the most technical tennis dresses ever made—and it’s almost an exact copy of her wedding dress. (It's also, perhaps, a lucky charm? Kostyuk cruised through that match, 6-3, 6-2.)
On the Podcast: Lanvin and Sports and Maxxxine, Oh, My!
Chioma (or “Prints Charming,” as Chloe calls her) is traveling, so Vogue’s deputy editor, Taylor Antrim, steps up to the mic. The two talk about all the fashion and culture news that’s piquing their interest this week. In the fashion world, Lanvin has announced that Peter Copping—previously of Louis Vuitton, Nina Ricci, Oscar de la Renta, and Balenciaga—will be the new artistic director of the storied French house. And in New York, tonight is the Marc Jacobs show at the New York Public Library.
What a Trip to See Grizzly Bears Taught Me About Patience
All morning long, I saw evidence that we had just missed a grizzly bear: paw prints in the dirt, scratched-up bark. I was so close. With each failed turn, it became harder to accept that the bear was just out of sight. I went back over the sequence of events from that morning, looking for something to blame. We were late. My guide forgot his keys. It was raining. In all of my years traveling the world to see wildlife, this was the first time I began to think it might not happen.
Who Will Win Wimbledon This Year? Has Coco Gauff’s Moment Arrived? All Your Questions Answered in Our Annual Preview
The 137th staging of the Wimbledon Championships began today, with first-round matches kicking off moments ago. Who are the favorites, the spoilers, the sure bets, the wild cards? It’s All “Irrational Clothing”—The Spring 2025 Menswear Shows Reflect the Chaotic State of Fashion
Putting together a trend report is a most daunting task. How to summarize months of work and countless looks—plus all the front-row chatter—into one list? After the spring 2025 menswear collections, the project was even more challenging. What does one make of a season of contradictions?. With the...
A Look Back on Dr. Jill Biden’s Patriotic Style
Last Friday, President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden attended a campaign event in Raleigh, North Carolina—just a day after the presidential debate between presumed candidates Biden and Donald J. Trump. As both embark on the campaign trail ahead of the upcoming election, Dr. Biden used her choice of fashion on Friday to deliver a clear message to viewers: She wore a custom dress by the American designer Christian Siriano, covered in the word “Vote.” The garment spoke for itself.
From Jill Biden to Jacqueline Kennedy: Looking Back at First Ladies in Vogue
Today, the first lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden, graces the cover of Vogue for the second time. While she appeared in the Winter 2023 issue—to celebrate her granddaughter Naomi Biden’s wedding—the last time FLOTUS covered the magazine was in August 2021, mere months into President Joe Biden’s first term.
First Lady Jill Biden on What’s at Stake in 2024
If you want to know what power feels like, try to get yourself driven around in a motorcade. Flashing police chaperone lights form a perimeter as you blaze down an empty highway, waiting cars backed up on entry ramps as you pass. It’s as if the world is holding its breath. For you. Also, rules don’t apply: On a cool spring day, driving down suburban Minneapolis side streets, we run red lights and whip round curves so fast I can barely take in the commonplace American view. Tract housing, big box stores, churches, office parks, semi-industrial no-man’s-land. Finally, we arrive at our destination, Nine Mile Brewing, in Bloomington, Minnesota. “Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go,” commands someone—a Secret Service agent, maybe—as the motorcade pulls into a loading dock. Politics, I will come to discover in the next few days, involves a lot of backstage spaces: service entrances, freight elevators, places where Very Important People can slip in and out of events unnoticed. Politics also involves a lot of comically fast walking—to wit, at Nine Mile, an entourage of 30 or so are noisily hustling to follow a trim, blond woman in a pristine white suit as she strides nonchalantly past clanging, gurgling brewing vats, aiming for a back office. This is my first glimpse of first lady Dr. Jill Biden: Exiting the sealed chamber of power into the middle of America, a vision of calm amid utter cacophony.
Ice Spice Brings a Vintage Runway Look to the BET Awards
Tonight, the 2024 BET Awards—hosted by Taraji P. Henson for the third time—will feature a star-studded lineup of performers including Ice Spice, Tyla, Megan Thee Stallion, and Lauryn Hill. As usual, the red carpet was full of bold fashion statements. (Host Henson, for one, wore a glitzy gold Balmain number.) But it was Ice Spice who delivered the best vintage moment of the night: She plucked an archival look straight from a spring 2004 collection.
All the Best Beauty Looks From the 2024 BET Awards Blue Carpet
It’s only appropriate that tonight’s BET Awards, held in Los Angeles at the Peacock Theater, turned out gorgeous beauty looks by the bucketful. After all, the show’s host, Taraji P. Henson, has a beauty brand of her own. The hair and makeup looks we saw on the...
How "Extroverted Dressing" Led Me to Gender Euphoria
A shrinking violet I am not. As a black transgender woman, I believe I’ve fought for my voice and, frankly, my looks. Right now, we’re in the midst of what I affectionately refer to as a Transgender Renaissance. Put simply—and there's no other way to say it—transgender people are having a moment. We have existed for generations, but only now are we being widely represented in politics, film, pop culture, and IRL. Your neighbors and coworkers are proudly coming out as transgender, and deserve to pull up a seat at the table.
