Men charged with kidnapping and rape appear in court
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Keeshaun Brown, 25, and Jabari Gibson, 19, appeared in Seventh Circuit Court from the Pennington County Jail on Thursday morning. Brown is charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree kidnapping. In the same case, Gibson is charged with fourth-degree rape, first-degree burglary, and aiding and abetting first-degree kidnapping and robbery in the first degree.

The Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce’s September Business After Hours mixer will be held on Thursday, September 12 from 5:15 to 7:00 pm at LiveServe Blood Center, 2727 6th Avenue Southeast, Suite 102. Student freshens up Rapid City Central patrol car with new design
RAPID CITY, S.D.-- The Resource Officer at Rapid City Central High School has started the semester in style with some help from the student body. For the past few years, the RCPD patrol unit has been decked out with designs from the school. The last car wrap design made in the 2016-17 school year.
Music camp in the Black Hills
Gabby Goebel (Mike and Kim) attended Northern State University Rushmore Senior High Music Camp Aug. 5-9 at Camp Judson near Keystone, SD, along with over 60 other high school students. Students attend camp to improve their skills in their chosen instrument, voice, or both. Gabby auditioned and was part of two smaller groups, the RMC Rushmore Singers and the RMC Musical Theatre in addition to the large choir. Other groups were the Jazz Band and Symphonic Band. The concert ended with the campers, instructors, camp counselors and audience singing America the Beautiful. Gabby reported that she learned and practiced singing techniques at camp and had a lot of fun meeting other campers from across South Dakota and surrounding states. The week was packed with lessons, rehearsals, and many fun activities including the camp’s version of the Olympics. Gabby said, “It was a magical experience getting to perform at Mt. Rushmore!” Next year she plans to attend the camp again for voice and trumpet. She is a sophomore at GHS this fall.
