A casual game of beach soccer turned into a shocking accident when a man was run over by a speeding e-bike, leaving him injured and the rider facing serious charges.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred in May when Logan Knapik was driving his e-bike above the speed limit and outside designated traffic lanes on the beach.

Deputies stated that Knapik struck the man who was playing soccer, causing significant injuries.

Knapik then left the scene of the crash, prompting an investigation by local authorities.

Witnesses reported the incident, leading to a search for Knapik.

This week, Knapik was taken into custody on charges of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and operating an electric bicycle in a manner likely to cause harm.

The injured man is expected to recover.

Knapik’s court date is yet to be scheduled. He remains in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
