Donald Trump: Rallying in NC Amidst Trials and Tribulations

Former U.S. President Donald Trump is making headlines yet again with his scheduled appearance in North Carolina, amidst his ongoing criminal trial in New York City.

Trump's Upcoming Campaign Rally

Trump, the likely Republican nominee, is set to hold a campaign rally this weekend at the Aero Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. The doors open at 3 p.m., with Trump slated to deliver his speech at 7 p.m.

Trump's previous visit to North Carolina was in March, just before the state's Super Tuesday primary. He also campaigned in Wilmington several times, the last visit being on Sept. 23, 2022, while rallying for Senator Ted Budd.

Interestingly, Lara Trump, Trump's daughter-in-law and a native of Wilmington, was recently elected as co-chair of the Republican National Committee. The newly elected RNC chair, Michael Whatley, previously served as North Carolina’s GOP chair.

Trump's Criminal Trial

The jury selection for Trump's hush-money trial began earlier this week. This marks the first time a former U.S. president has been criminally prosecuted. Trump is charged with falsifying business records related to payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign.

North Carolina: The Swing State

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden, Trump's Democratic rival, has been increasing his visits to North Carolina. Alongside Vice President Kamala Harris, Biden visited Raleigh on March 26 to discuss health care and prescription drug prices.

During their visit, they participated in a fundraiser that raised more than $2.3 million. First Lady Jill Biden also visited Greensboro and Greenville earlier this week.

North Carolina is expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming presidential election. Recent polls suggest a close race between Trump and Biden, with a significant portion of independent voters still undecided.
