Governor Cooper Confident: Biden Can Win North Carolina in 2024 Election

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper (D) expressed confidence on Wednesday in President Biden's prospects for winning their state in the upcoming presidential election.

Cooper stated during the Semafor’s World Economy Summit, "I have faith that President Biden can secure victory in North Carolina." He highlighted the campaign's investments in the state as evidence of their belief in winning.

Biden's campaign is targeting to overturn the outcome in the Tar Heel State, which former President Trump won in both the 2020 and 2016 elections.

Cooper noted that in 2020, Biden lost North Carolina by a narrow margin of 1.3 percent, emphasizing its status as the third-fastest-growing state in the nation, with an influx of college-educated individuals.

Recent polling averages by The Hill/Decision Desk HQ show Trump leading Biden by 3.4 percentage points in North Carolina, with Trump at 48.3 percent and Biden at 44.9 percent.

Despite these numbers, Dory MacMillan, the North Carolina communications director for Biden's campaign, expressed optimism, highlighting Biden's focus on the people's welfare contrasted with Trump's alignment with billionaires and corporations.

Governor Cooper described the upcoming election as a "stark choice" between Biden and Trump, emphasizing Biden's commitment to serving the American people over self-interest.

The Trump campaign has not responded to requests for comment from The Hill.

Meanwhile, in November, North Carolina anticipates another heated gubernatorial race between Cooper and the state's current attorney general, Josh Stein (D), and lieutenant governor, Mark Robinson.
