Vermont State Police said Wednesday that search crews had recovered a body believed to be a New Jersey man who went missing Saturday while swimming in Warren Falls.

Authorities were notified Saturday afternoon that Tuan Baldino, 35, of Paramus, New Jersey, had gone missing while swimming in the Mad River in Warren, according to a press release issued by Vermont State Police. Baldino had last been seen in the Cascades section of Warren Falls, the release said.

Police dispatched search and rescue teams to the falls and spent Saturday evening and Sunday unsuccessfully searching the area for Baldino, according to the release. They encountered “high and swift water,” which hindered the operation.

The search resumed on Wednesday and police said recovery crews found a body believed to be Baldino’s late Wednesday afternoon. The death did not appear to be suspicious, police said.

The body was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Burlington to confirm the identity and determine the cause of death.

Warren Falls and the surrounding sections of the Mad River will be closed at least through Thursday, according to the release. Police also urged members of the public to “expect continued hazardous conditions” and avoid swimming in the river even after it is reopened.
