WABASH, Ind. (WANE) – After 13 seasons leading Southwood, Dave Snyder bid farewell at the end of last season.

Now Thomas Tyree is tasked with building on one of the top programs in the Three Rivers Conference. This is Tyree’s first head coaching job after serving as North Side’s defensive coordinator the last three seasons.

With several younger players expected to see playing time, one veteran who hopes to shoulder the load is Griffin Chambers. The quarterback passed for 1,005 yards, tossing eight touchdowns while scoring seven on the ground. Top tailback Bryce Rigney graduated, but junior Maddox Marshall hopes to shoulder the load as one of Southwood’s top skill players.

On defense, juniors Ivan Ranck and Nolan Hines return after leading the team in tackles as sophomores last year. Dalton Barney is another defensive stalwart who earned 3.5 sacks in his junior season.

Southwood kicks off the season on Friday, Aug. 23 at Maconaquah.
