Baylor set to hire Gary Patterson as a Senior Consultant

WACO, TX ( FOX 44 ) — Sources have confirmed to FOX 44 Sports that Dave Aranda is set to hire long time TCU Head Football Coach Gary Patterson as a member of the Baylor Football staff.

As part of the hire, Patterson will serve as a Senior Consultant for the Bears, after spending more than 20 years on the other side of the rivalry between the two schools.

During his time at TCU, Patterson led the Horned Frogs to a 181-79 overall record and took the team to 18 bowl games.

At the time of his resignation in 2021, he was the second longest current tenured head football coach at the college level behind only Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz.

He also left the Horned Frogs as the winningest head football coach in the program’s history.

Most recently, he served as a special assistant for Texas Football during the 2022 season.
