LAWRENCE, KS ( FOX 44 ) — A frantic Baylor comeback charge fell short, quite literally, with the Bears leaving Allen Fieldhouse with a loss to No. 4 Kansas, 64-61.

Potential game-tying threes by Jayden Nunn and Ja’Kobe Walter within the final 15 seconds of regulation clanked short off the rim as Baylor couldn’t capitalize on a late Kansas turnover and missed free throw to set up the opportunities.

Kansas led the charge in the early going with Hunter Dickinson carrying the Jayhawks early with 13 points. The Bears still maintained the lead, trading baskets with the Jayhawks but went scoreless in the final 4:32 of the first half as Kansas built up a 34-30 lead.

Baylor came out with a solid defensive gameplan in the second half to stop Dickinson. His first and only basket of the second half came with 8:40 remaining to lift Kansas to an 11-point lead.

It wasn’t until Kansas built their lead to 12 points that the Bears began their charge, slowly chipping away using the three ball to pull within five points.

A big star down the stretch resided in the post with Yves Missi blocking out the noise and the 56 percent free throw shooter made four-straight free throws in the final three minutes to get Baylor within three and set the Bears up to tie the game.

Baylor falls to 6-4 in Big 12 conference play and moves on to face Oklahoma in Norman on Tuesday, February 13th at 8 p.m.
