No. 18 Baylor tops No. 22 West Virginia for fifth Top 25 win

WACO, Texas ( FOX 44 ) — The Bears are back in the win column against another top 25 opponent, taking down No. 22 West Virginia, 65-58.

The Bears used a strong first half by Darianna Littlepage-Buggs to jump out to an early lead. 10 points and five rebounds in the first half helped Baylor to a 34-26 lead heading into the break.

Baylor weathered the storm in the second half with West Virginia mounting a comeback but the Bears never giving in. Seven different Bears scored in the third and fourth quarter including eight from Aijha Blackwell and seven from Bella Fontleroy.

“This week was about getting our swagger back,” Fontleroy said.

“We got back to playing Baylor basketball,” Littlepage-Buggs said. “And when we play Baylor basketball, man.”

The Bears haven’t won back-to-back games since the beginning of January but will look to do it when they take on the Big 12-leading Oklahoma Sooners and potentially break some hearts in Norman on Valentines Day.
