WACO, Texas ( FOX 44 ) — A legacy that stands the test of time for Baylor basketball is now immortalized in the rafters of the Foster Pavilion.

Baylor women’s basketball honored former Baylor national champion and 2012 AP Player of the Year Brittney Griner by retiring her jersey before Sunday’s game against Texas Tech. Griner becomes the seventh player in Baylor women’s basketball history to get their jersey retired and first to be hung in the rafters at the Foster Pavilion.

She joins Odyssey Sims, Melissa Jones, Nina Davis, Suzie Snider Eppers, Shelia Lambert and Sophia Young.

Griner excelled during her time in the green and gold, helping lead Baylor to a national championship and perfect 40-0 season in 2012.
