WACO, Texas ( FOX 44 ) — Through all the pregame festivities, the Bears put on a show in front of Brittney Griner to roll over Texas Tech in a 61-32 win on Sunday afternoon.

The Bears came out swinging from the jump, getting out to a 24-7 lead after Aijha Blackwell’s and-one opportunity extended the Baylor advantage in the second quarter. The Bears took a 27-13 lead into the halftime break, their fewest points given up in a half this season.

Baylor didn’t let up in the second half, continuing right where they left off defensively to honor BG.

“I thought that we needed to create energy based off our defense,” head coach Nicki Collen said. “The best way to honor her was to compete at the defensive end with high energy.”

Baylor forced Texas Tech into 29 turnovers throughout the game to take as much as a 33-point lead with 5:30 to go in the fourth quarter.

Sarah Andrews led Baylor with 11 points while Darianna Littlepage-Buggs finished as the only other Baylor Bear in double figures.

Baylor stays home next for a rematch with Kansas on Wednesday, February 21st at 7:00 p.m.
