KANSAS CITY, MO ( FOX 44 ) — It didn’t always look pretty but the Baylor Bears are onto round three of the Big 12 tournament following a 70-61 win over Texas Tech on Friday.

The Bears started the game fast, continuing their game plan from the 29-point win in Waco of forcing turnovers to create points. Eight first quarter Tech turnovers led to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter.

Baylor strengthened that lead in the second quarter, taking a 12-point lead into the halftime break with Aijha Blackwell and Jana Van Gytenbeek each turning in eight points.

However, the Lady Red Raiders came out in the second half determined to pull off a major upset, cutting the lead to as little as two with Jasmine Shavers doing damage in the third quarter.

The Bears wouldn’t be denied though, halting the Tech run with a fourth-quarter run of their own to seal the win in Kansas City and move onto a Big 12 tournament rematch with the No. 4 Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday, March 9th at 11:00 a.m. in the third round.
