HOUSTON, Texas ( FOX 44 ) — A back-and-forth effort from Baylor ended in Houston having just a little more to take the Big 12 opener, 4-3 in game one of the three-game set.

Mason Marriott got the nod for the Bears and pitched well through the first three innings but ran into trouble in the fourth. After taking a one-run lead in the first inning, a RBI-double by Jake Rainess gave Houston the 3-1 lead.

The Bears answered right back to tie it at three with back-to-back RBI-doubles from Enzo Apodaca and Wesley Jordan in the top of the fifth.

However, in the bottom of the fifth inning, Tre Jones singled up the middle to drive home the go-ahead run as Baylor couldn’t get the bats going in the final four innings.

Baylor looks to bounce back in game two of the three-game set on Saturday, March 9th at 6:30 p.m.
