WACO, Texas ( FOX 44 ) — Insurance runs and quality pitching lifted No. 21 Baylor softball to another series win, taking down Texas Tech by run-rule in six innings, 11-3 on Sunday afternoon.

After jumping out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning, disaster awaited the Bears in the second inning when a double by Shaylon Govan turned a raucous crowd dead silent when Govan immediately grabbed her knee in pain.

Govan leads the team batting average, hits and RBI’s this season but Baylor head softball coach Glenn Moore said the preliminary tests came back positive.

“I’ve heard good things,” Moore said. “From my understanding, [the trainers] are confident.”

However, Baylor didn’t let the somber injury stop the hot bats. A 3-3, three RBI day for Sydney Collazos and a ‘walk off’ RBI-single from Abi Flores triggered the run rule in the bottom of the sixth to clinch a crucial series win for the Bears.

Baylor returns back to action in San Antonio to face UTSA on the road on Tuesday, April 9th at 6:00 p.m.
