PROVO, UT ( FOX 44 ) — The winning ways continue on for the Baylor Baseball team, as the Bears beat BYU 18-17 on Saturday to complete the series sweep.

The key to success once again for the Bears was to get off to an early lead, as Wesley Jordan smashed a three-run home run in the top of the first to give Baylor a lead it would never relinquish.

Mitch Thompson’s team would need every run it could get in the game though, as the Bears went up 18-5 before BYU stormed all the way back with 12 straight runs to cut the lead to one run.

Baylor got the big outs when it needed though, keeping the Cougars off the bases in a one-run game in the ninth to secure a fifth straight Big 12 win.

The series sweep of BYU is the first for the Bears in Big 12 play since 2019. They’ll look to keep the momentum going when they host travel north to take on UT Arlington on Tuesday, April 16th with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 pm.
