WACO, Texas ( FOX 44 ) — A much needed win over the Golden Knights has the Bears back in the win column following a 2-1 victory Friday night.

A passed ball in the bottom of the first brought home Emily Hott to open the scoring and get the Bears on the board first with a 1-0 lead.

Neither team found much success with their bats, with only five hits between both squads.

UCF tied the game in the top of the fourth with a solo shot from Chloe Evans to even it at one a piece.

However, Shaylon Govan wasn’t ready to drop the series opener on the Bears’ home turf. Govan responded with a solo home run of her own in the bottom of the sixth to put Baylor back on top. Aliyah Binford took it from there, forcing the next three Golden Knights batters to ground out in the top of the seventh to seal the win.

Baylor plays game two against UCF on Saturday, April 20th at 11:00 a.m.
