Baylor picks up midweek win over Sam Houston State

WACO, Texas ( FOX 44 ) — The Bears held off a Bearkats charge to get back in the win column over Sam Houston State, 9-3 on Tuesday night.

The Bears jumped out to an early 4-0 lead through the first four innings thanks to stellar pitching from Jared Matheson. Matheson’s day ended after just the third inning, not allowing a hit and striking out two.

Sam Houston State made a comeback in the next two innings, pulling to within a single run in the top of the sixth. The Bears never wavered, using a three-run seventh inning to take a six-run lead and put the game out of reach.

Baylor looks to ride the momentum into a big home series against at West Virginia beginning on Friday, April 26th at 5:30 p.m.
