WACO, Texas ( FOX 44 ) — In a week full of weather, a weather cancellation led to Baylor’s postseason hopes coming to a close earlier than expected as the Bears were eliminated from securing the 10th and final Big 12 tournament spot.

Texas Tech was slated to wrap up Big 12 conference play today against Oklahoma State, as the Red Raiders cling on to the 10th seed in the Big 12 standings. However, inclement weather cancelled the third and final game of the series in Stillwater.

The only hope for Baylor baseball to sneak their way in after getting swept by Oklahoma would’ve been to sweep the final series of the regular season this upcoming weekend against UCF and have the Red Raiders drop Sunday’s contest.

Now even if the Bears win out, Texas Tech will lead in the standings by half a game.

This marks the second-straight year Baylor failed to make the Big 12 tournament as the Bears enter the final week of the regular season with four games remaining.
