Baylor advances to NCAA Championship

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. ( FOX 44 ) — The Bears are onto the NCAA Championship after outlasting Alabama to snag the final spot in the Chapel Hill Regional with a 15-under 845 to claim a fifth-place finish in the tournament.

The Chapel Hill Regional came down to the final hole with the Alabama Crimson Tide tied with Baylor as the Bears anxiously watched. The Crimson Tide later bogeyed the final hole to punch the Bears ticket into the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in program history.

Three Baylor players finished in the top-16 of the field for the first time in a postseason event since 2017 with five of six Bears carding their career-best postseason rounds.

“We are going back, which is really exciting,” head coach Mike McGraw said. “We have been looking forward to La Costa all year long…and we were very fortunate to come out where we were qualified. We’re really excited about it.”

Baylor will tee it up next at the NCAA Championships from May 24-29 in Carlsbad, California.
