LAFAYETTE, LA ( FOX 44 ) — The Baylor Softball team got off to winning start on Friday in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, as the Bears beat Ole Miss.

After getting shut out by the Rebels in the same game last year, Glenn Moore’s avoided that same fate, as an Emily Hott solo home run gave Baylor the the immediate lead in the top of the first.

From there, the Bears maintained their slim advantage until the bottom of the fourth, when a two-run Shaylon Govan home run put the game out of reach for good.

Meanwhile, Aliyah Binford was stellar on the mound, holding the Rebels to just a single hit over seven innings of work.

With the win, Baylor moves into the winners bracket of the Lafayette Regional, and will face Louisiana on Saturday, May 18th at 2:00 pm.
