LAFAYETTE, LA ( FOX 44 ) — The Bears silenced the Ragin Cajuns in stunning fashion on their home turf, shutting out the host team No. 13 Louisiana, 8-0 on Saturday, to advance to the NCAA Regional Championship game on Sunday.

The Bears’ bats came to life in the second inning, putting together a seven-run inning to take it to Louisiana early.

The Ragin Cajuns walked Shaylon Govan to load the bases with the Bears up 3-0, leaving Aliyah Binford to blast a grand slam for her second home run of the season to put Baylor on top, 7-0.

Baylor only allowed one runner for the Ragin’ Cajuns through the next two innings. Rylee Crandall held it down in the circle, pitching a complete game shutout with just two hits allowed and three strikeouts.

The Bears advance to face Louisiana in a rematch tomorrow in the double-elimination style tournament. Baylor only needs to be the Ragin Cajuns once to advance to the NCAA Super Regional.

The second game between the top two seeds in the Lafayette Regional begins on Sunday, May 19th at 1:00 p.m.
