GAINESVILLE, FL ( FOX 44 ) — The Baylor softball team’s confidence never wavered and the Bears never quit, taking the Gators down to the wire in a winner-take-all game 3 of the Super Regionals but ultimately exiting the postseason with a 5-3 loss.

Baylor fell behind 4-0 after the first three innings but got on the board in the fourth when Sydney Collazos singled to the wall in left center to bring around Aliyah Binford to pull the Bears within three.

Baylor pulled closer in the next inning with Emily Hott blasting a two-run home run to left to decrease the deficit to a single run, 4-3. The two-run shot marked her 11th of the season, tying her for the team lead with Shaylon Govan.

The Gators added one more run in the bottom half and it all came down to the seventh with the Bears trailing by two. Baylor rallied to put two runners on with no outs in the inning but the Bears weren’t able to capitalize, with Florida surviving and advancing to the Women’s College World Series.

“Well, the sting is going to be there for a while because it mattered,” head softball coach Glenn Moore said. “If you walk away from here without it hurting, then you’re probably not here to start with if it doesn’t matter very much. So, it’s going to hurt for a while. We already realize what they’ve done.”

The Bears finish the season with a 36-23 record.
