Texas has many activities that are great for all ages to enjoy in the summer time, and just about nothing can top the family fun of going to the zoo. Growing up, you probably never would have thought you would live to see the day where protecting animals in safe environments away from poachers and predators would become so despised by people, but we now live in strange times.
Private pesticide applicator training set for July 17 in Waco
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in McLennan County will host a private pesticide applicator training course on July 17. The course is from 8 a.m. to noon at the AgriLife Extension office in McLennan County, 4224 Cobbs Drive, Waco. Registration is $70 and is payable by cash or check during the day of the course. The cost includes all course materials.
Baylor to Honor Miracle on the Brazos Team on Sept. 14
WACO, Texas – Baylor football will honor the 1974 Southwest Conference Championship team during halftime of the Sept. 14 matchup vs. Air Force at McLane Stadium. The Bears will welcome members of the 1974 'Miracle on the Brazos' team for the clash with the Falcons at 6:30 p.m., with the game televised live on FS1 and presented by Premier ER + Urgent Care. The game will also serve as the Baylor Family Weekend and Salute to Service contest.
Waco watering restrictions in effect, except for car washes
Summer is officially here and for Texans that usually marks the start of water restrictions across the state. The city of Waco has a year-round water conservation plan to ensure that the city has enough water in the event of a drought. The plan is updated every five years to address the needs of the community.

Dallas man caught smuggling immigrants in McLennan County indicted by grand jury
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A Dallas man arrested in April on charges he was smuggling four immigrants from Mexico to Dallas was indicted Tuesday. Guillermo Ramirez Hernandez, 46, was charged by a McLennan County grand jury with four counts of smuggling of persons. Three of the charges are third-degree felonies, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. A fourth count is a second-degree felony, with a penalty up to 20 years, because it alleges Hernandez was trying to smuggle a person younger than 18.

AUSTIN, Texas — A Texas 10 Most Wanted sex offender is back in custody following his recent arrest in Wyoming, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Authorities arrested Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender Ramiro Manuel Dominguez, 35, on June 27 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Dominguez, who was DPS Featured Fugitive in June 2024, was apprehended after DPS Special Agents from Lubbock coordinated with officers from the Cheyenne Police Department, following a tip received last month. A Crime Stoppers reward will be paid for his arrest.
