Ohm family fills out infield at Lakers game

If you were keeping a scorecard at the Waconia Lakers baseball game on June 4, it might have been tough to track because at one time there were four Ohms in the infield.

Lakers manager Mike Friedrich set it up that evening so that all four of “the Ohm boys” signed on with the Lakers, and one inning featured an all-Ohm infield.

Dad Chris Ohm has dreamed about playing together with his three boys for years, according to wife Missy, and that came together in the game last week against the Jordan Brewers. The infield looked like this:

    • 1st base – Riley Ohm, age 20, plays baseball for Concordia College-Moorhead, also plays for the Lakers and coaches Post 150 senior legion ball

2nd base – Chris Ohm, 48, president of the Waconia Baseball Association, who also played college baseball and football at Concordia-Moorhead

    • Shortstop – Culley Ohm, 16, plays for Waconia High School, the Lakers, and Pitch 2 Pitch Millers club travel baseball

    • 3rd base -- Tucker Ohm, 19, former WHS third basemen now attending the University of Minnesota-Duluth. While he does not play college ball – he traded in his baseball cleats to spend his summers playing golf, his mom says – it was third basemen Ohm who handled the ball most in the Ohm infield inning. He took two infield shots and fired the ball to brother Riley at first for two of the three outs in the inning.

As for father Chris, despite being charged with an error on a ball hit toward second base (he’s still negotiating that one in the score book), he called playing all together with his sons one of the most memorable moments of his lifetime.
